Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program

The Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program (BFRDP) is a USDA-NIFA program which awards grants to organizations providing education, mentoring, and technical assistance to beginning farmers and ranchers.

The Center for Farm Financial Management’s FarmAnswers.org website serves as the national BFRDP clearinghouse, which helps find information on specific topics and programs designed to help newer farmers and ranchers.

FarmAnswers.org is the clearinghouse website. It includes:

  • The Library that provides access to more than 5,000 documents, online courses, videos, apps, presentations and other materials to answer farming and ranching questions.
  • Programs that lets producers quickly locate educational programs on topics of interest to them in their area.
  • Blogs and news where you can follow key sources of information
  • Toolboxes that contain a few key tools and resources on priority topics
  • Project reports that let you learn what other BFRDP projects are doing

CFFM works with USDA and other BFRDP projects to continually update the resources available to beginning farmers and ranchers.
